The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that, following the completion of safety verification for its late-night autonomous driving taxi service that began pilot operations in September last year, the service will be expanded to cover all of Gangnam starting on the 16th.
In addition to the current service areas of Yeoksam, Daechi, Dogok, and Samseong, the operational zone will be extended to high-demand locations such as Apgujeong, Sinsa, Nonhyeon, and Cheongdam Station.
Korea’s first late-night autonomous driving taxi service, introduced in Seoul, operates three vehicles on weekdays from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. During the pilot period, the service is offered free of charge.
Since its initial launch on September 26 last year, the service has recorded approximately 4,200 rides over an eight-month period. Excluding weekends when the service does not operate, this averages about 24 rides per day.
